Freeze problems are quite common in computers these days. In many cases your computer suddenly starts locking up or freezing? Now what to do? Many people don’t know how to come out of this problem.
Here is how you can avoid or overcome troubleshooting freeze or lockup problems: Follow these steps carefully for troubleshooting freeze problems.
1. You must check for recently installed software/hardware.
If you are facing freeze problems after installation of some new hardware or software program, just remove it and check whether the problem is solved or not.
2. Activate your antivirus program.
Whenever troubleshooting freeze problems in your computer immediately run your antivirus program. If you don’t have antivirus software installed or if current updates are unavailable, search for free anti virus programs on internet.
3. Use good spyware removal tool.
If your computer does not have any viruses, it may have some harmful adware or spyware. So you must download and activate some good spyware removal tools like - AdAware or Microsoft AntiSpyware etc.
4. Check for free hard drive space.
If you find no viruses, immediately check free hard drive space on ‘C’ drive. There should be more than 20% of free space available because low disk space can cause freeze problems.
5. Is there over-heating?
Over-heating is another cause of freeze or lockup problems. So see that the power supply fan and CPU fan are working properly without any dust particles.
6. Check the memory.
Sometimes freeze problems can be due to your computer’s memory or RAM failure. In order to test the memory, run “Windows Memory Diagnostic”. If any memory problem is found, fit the RAM properly and if still it doesn’t work, just change it.
7. Check the hard disk
It is very important to check the hard disk because sometimes its logical structure gets corrupted. If there is any problem in the disk, it will automatically tell you about it and if the hard disk is weakening physically, it must be changed. It is advisable to operate “Disk Defragmenter” to optimize data placement on your hard disk for better performance and consistency.
8. Renew the Windows and drivers.
Some troubleshooting freeze problems can also be due to out-dated software components so you should update or renew your windows and drives time to time.
It is important that you keep your system updated and have basic information fro troubleshooting freeze problems.
