Sometimes when a .dll file, which stands for digitally linked library, is corrupt or not there, missing, you can receive an error message similar to this:

can’t find the file Program.exe

or

can’t find file file.exe

where the words program and file are the actual names on your computer of the things your computer cannot find. It can also be one of the components of the exe, like a dependency of the program like for example a .dll file. And it can be followed up with an error message like this:

Error starting program. A required .dll file dll_file.dll was not found.

Where dll_file is the actual name of the .dll file that might be missing or corrupt. So what exactly causes these .dll file errors exactly on your home computer? There a few major reasons:

• An important file is needed by a program that may have been deleted. This will usually happen if a program is uninstalled or removed.
• A virus or spyware program has infected the given .dll and changed it in one way or more
• .dll entries in the registry in windows are corrupt or missing

How Do You Fix The .dll Errors

First, try to uninstall and then reinstall the program that the error message was referring to. This will replace old files with new ones and hopefully replace the .dll file that had the error on your home computer.

If that does not work when trying to detect missing dll files on your home computer then, uninstall any recently installed programs. So anything that has changed on your computer from the time when it worked fine to the point where you needed home computer repair, flag those as maybe problem events, and uninstall those programs. You can always reinstall them later after the .dll problem is fixed.

Then do the same for any drivers or hardware devices that were installed. Uninstall them all and if the dll error goes away then you can go ahead and reinstall them again.

If that still does not work, try a system restore to a point most recent to when the error was not taking place. Restore to a point that you remember where your computer was in good shape. Keep in mind you might need to reinstall programs after the restore has finished.

If all of that fails you should immediately start to backup all important documents that you do not want to loose. Here are some ways to save yourself money of bringing it to a PC service shop, and instead do the home computer repair yourself:

You cannot turn your computer on
Generally it is one of a few things that it could be. The power cord that plugs into the back of the computer is bad and probably needs to be replaced or maybe it came dislodged and just needs to get plugged back in.

You turn on your computer and it freezes before fully booting up
Typically this will happen when you do not have enough memory for your computer. Check with how much you have installed in the DIMM memory slots. Compare that number with how much the software on your computer requires in order to run in a stable environment without needing home computer repair tips.

Your mouse, monitor, disk drive, CD ROM drive, or speakers don’t work
Check and double check every connection on both ends of every wire. You might possibly have to even check that there is not dust on the wires at their ends, if so clean the ends thoroughly. It could possibly be a software issue also where you need to uninstall and reinstall specific software like the audio driver, or video driver. If it’s the mouse, take that apart thoroughly and give it a good clean.

Your keyboard doesn’t work properly
Again, clean your keyboard just like you would something else, clean in between all of the keys. It could have gotten dirt in where dirt does not belong over time as you used it. If the keyboard seems ok but the computer or laptop just won’t recognize it then it may be the connection on the computer. Try a keyboard that is a USB keyboard and see if that works, if it does you know it was the computer’s actual connection and no home computer repair tips can fix that connection

Your computer has an interior grinding noise
It is probably the hard drive making this type of sound. The hard drives spin, they are disks that rotate. The hard drive might crash soon so first back up all of your data right away. It might also be an interior fan that is rubbing up against maybe a wire so check this also.
