To get to our Control Panel in Windows XP, we only need to do a few clicks. It is very easy just follow the directions below:

  1. Open the Start menu
  2. Go into Settings, or directly into the Control Panel
  3. Click on Control Panel if you are not already there

Today, I went to fix someone’s computer that was running really slow, until I uninstalled unused programs. When I got there and booted it up, or tried to boot it up, it took forever. Right away I knew the computer itself just had too many programs installed.

So today’s computer job was for a very nice lady who needed home computer repair. She called and had mentioned that her monitor would flicker on and off. She had also said that after her monitor would flicker, her computer would sometimes randomly restart itself.

Not a good thing to happen to a computer huh? Well that’s what I was thinking when I arrived and found that she had described it perfectly to me. Her computer was shutting off just as she described. Now I knew I had to figure out what the problem was, and I knew it was probably the computer’s hardware. The reason is that most of the time when a computer is flat our restarting, it is most likely a hardware issue.
